COMMUNITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIP
Small Business Development Training - This 13-week training course is aimed at building and supporting the capacity of individuals and families to pursue small business ownership as a strategy for building individual family wealth and community wealth. Seven hundred students have completed the training program.
Latina Leadership Program – The Latina Leadership Program was developed in 2002 by Sister Alicia Cuaron and 40 immigrant women from Mexico, Central, and South America who reside in the Denver metropolitan area in response to the needs of Latino immigrants and their families. Participants are professional women who fled from the political and economic instability in their own countries. They are highly educated, but lack a network of support and resources for integration into U.S. culture. The group meets twice a month to hear from community leaders and experts about policy, legal, health, and educational issues that impact the Latino community. As a community development effort, they volunteer to provide recruitment, coordination and instruction in Adult Basic Education, GED, English As A Second Language, and leadership for family members served by the organization as they transition into American society. They also receive personal support and advocacy as they pursue their own educational and self-sufficiency goals.
Asesoria Habitacional - Homebuyer And Fair Housing Education - Participants learn how to shop for competitive loan products and down payment programs, read their individual credit report, work with real estate agents, loan officers, inspectors, and are linked to community-based housing programs and local lenders. Participants also learn about Fair Housing Laws and landlord and tenants rights to protect themselves from housing discrimination and other unlawful acts.
Ayuda Con Reportes De Impuestos Personales - IRS Income Tax Assistance - This free personal tax form preparation services is offered in partnership with the Piton Foundation for low-income individuals and families that are unable services.
Financial Literacy Training and Banking Services - Servicios De Banco - Local banking institution staff offer education and services for individuals and families that would like to learn about banking services and loan opportunities.
