San Juan Diego Pastoral Institute
The Centro San Juan Diego Pastoral Institute is dedicated to the integral formation of the laity in doctrine, tradition and magisterium of the church, Through these programs the church fulfills its mission to prepare the laity for service and ministry within the Catholic Church at the parish, diocesan and national levels with emphasis on academic study and pastoral experience.

The Institute was inspired by the Gospel and the Doctrine of the Catholic Church as reflected in the documents of the Vatican Council II, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, and the Latin American Bishop’s Conference.  The objective is to build and support pastoral leadership among Latino Catholics in all aspects of the Church through a comprehensive Christian education.  The Institute offers the following courses and programs that were attended by 4,363 individuals during 2008:
  • Fundamentals of the Christian Life (Basic Level). This introductory level course prepares Hispanic Catholics to participate in parish ministry. 
  • Pastoral Agent (Minister) Certification, CAP (Intermediate level). This course prepares individuals to assume a leadership role in parish ministry. The curriculum includes an introduction to theology with modules in Dogmatic Theology, Liturgy and Morals, Scripture, Ecclesiology and Pastoral Theology.
  • Specialties (Advanced level).  This course prepares certified pastoral agents wishing to focus their ministry in a specific area.
  • Bachelors Degree Program in Religious Sciences
  • Hispanic Culture. This course introduces non-Hispanics providing pastoral services to Hispanic immigrants to their culture and traditions to facilitate their integration into the Church.
